Deformed bars are commonly used as tensioning material in reinforced concrete and masonry structures, to keep the concrete in compression. Deformed bar, commonly made from carbon steel, are given ridges to assist in binding the reinforcement to the concrete mechanically. Deformed bars are often the basic construction material. Why builders prefer Steel construction? Because, with it, strength-to-weight ratio is superb. Steel can be joined without much effort.
